Handprint Forest
What You’ll Need:
*Large paper (at least 12x12 or bigger)
*Finger paints: yellow, red, brown. Optional paint color: green
How to Make It:
First protect your child's clothing..this is a messy project!
Add red and yellow paints to a small paperplate. Allow the child to mix the colors to create orange. With one hand covered in paint, help the child do handprints across the top of a piece of paper. Change the direction of the paper to help fill in the space. Use your optional green paint as well.
Now do a couple at the bottom of the paper to represent fallen leaves.
Rinse hand. Now the really messy part. Cover the hand up to the elbow with brown paint. Carefully place the child's arm with fingers out stretch several times across the center of the paper. This will represent the trunk and branch of the trees.
Allow to dry completely.
You can now use the paper plate you had the paint on to dry and use it for our Paperplate Scarecrow project. (Waste not!)
Create a festive Thanksgiving decoration with this easy fall craft or as part of a preschool Thanksgiving theme.
