I have done these "stained glass" votives for all different holidays including Valentines day, and Mother's Day. Children as young as two can get a sense of accomplishment with a little adult help. There is a beautiful nature version for Fall. These look so beautiful when completed they appear to be purchased as a speciality botique!

Materials:

A glass votive holder
Small pieces of colored tissue paper
White glue diluted with a little bit of water
A small brush

Instructions

Assemble your materials.
Put about three tablespoons of white glue into a jar or cup and add about one tablespoon of water. You want it about the consistency of watery paint.
Cut your tissue paper into small squares or other patterns.
For a more random stained glass look, tear the paper into random varied shapes.

Place the tissue on the votive and begin to paint the glue on top of it. (For smaller children I have them use a foam brush to avoid ripping the tissue) Continue with the application until the votive is completely covered.

Add several coats of diluted glue to the completed project. Let dry.
