This is a fun project that involves paint and a sponge. This is a very loosey-goosey project that’s quick and easy, and kinda messy. And they’ll have a ball doing it! It could be used to create wrapping paper, a homemade gift bag or even a simple wall hanging to deck the halls. Whatever you have in mind you and your children will create wonderful memories with this Christmas Lights Stamp project.
kitchen sponge, washable markers, scissors, some plain white paper, some bright thin paint, tape and black construction paper
optional: white craft or wrapping paper, blank handled gift bag, cardstock cut into circles...

Cut the sponge in the shape of a christmas blub
Apply paint to one side of the sponge
turn it over onto the paper - press down and hold for a moment "Freeze"
Carefully pick the sponge straight off the paper and see the stamped image
Repeat this process with additional colors (alternating)
Allow the paint to dry
add details such as the wire
mount on black contruction paper

Don't stop at Christmas bulb lights! Use your cookie cutters for idea shapes and create your own stamps for the holiday season.

Create Sponge Stamps by adding handles for small hands
Stamps are easy to make even for those who aren't very crafty, they don't take up space at all, and are easy to use. At the same time they let you explore your creativity: you can combine a number of stencils, make prints of different colour and density, and so on. You can also make brand new stencils whenever you wish!
Homemade Stencils for little hands...
Cleaning sponges - thinner the better
Laundry detergent caps
Cookie cutters to use as shape templates, or you can freehand your own shape!
Hot glue gun with several glue sticks
Sharpie marker
Pencil
Paper
Scissors
Choose a shape cookie cutter - with pencil trace it onto paper (to avoid getting marker on your cutter)
Then cut that image out as your template for the sponge.
Cut the sponge. This is the hardest part - pick simple images
Once the image is cut from the sponge hot glue it onto the back of a laundry cap trying to center it as much as possible. (use lots of glue) Be sure it’s totally dry before using, or it might come unglued fairly quickly!
